1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and the operator of Summary Bot (“Summary Bot,” “we,” “us”). They apply when you install, configure, purchase for, or use the Summary Bot Discord application (the “Bot”), or use trysummarybot.com (the “Site”).
By using the service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Your use of Discord also remains subject to Discord’s Terms of Service and other applicable Discord policies.
2. The service
Summary Bot provides AI-assisted tools within Discord, including private catch-ups, recasts, cited questions, a mention-based agent, scheduled recaps, live summaries, welcome summaries, and related configuration and privacy controls.
Available features, ranges, quality tiers, summary depths, usage allowances, and recurring limits depend on the active server plan. The current published contract appears on the Pricing page.
3. Eligibility and authority
You must be permitted to use Discord in your country. Discord requires users to be at least 13 in most countries and sets a higher minimum age in some locations. If you use Summary Bot on behalf of an organization or Discord server, you represent that you have authority to do so and to accept these Terms for that use.
You must have the relevant Discord permissions to install or configure the Bot. Installing the Bot does not give you access to channels or content you could not already access through Discord.
4. Discord and access
Summary Bot does not create a separate customer account. Discord supplies identity, server membership, roles, channel permissions, interactions, and purchase entitlements. You are responsible for the security of your Discord account and for actions taken through it.
Server owners and administrators are responsible for choosing appropriate Bot permissions, setting channel restrictions, informing their communities as required, and configuring public or recurring summaries for an appropriate audience.
5. Plans and credits
Trial
Each server receives one 3,000-credit trial. The trial does not renew and currently includes up to 300 messages per catch-up, Cheap and Fast quality, Standard depth, channel-only scope, and three total /ask or mention-agent replies.
Paid plans
Starter is $5 per month with 50,000 monthly credits; Pro is $15 per month with 175,000 monthly credits; and Scale is $39 per month with 500,000 monthly credits. Plan entitlements and monthly credit periods follow the subscription information delivered by Discord. Unused monthly allowance resets when the subscription period advances.
How credits work
Credits are the customer-visible usage meter. One credit represents 35 characters of raw Discord message content, rounded up per message, plus the fixed write price associated with the selected quality tier. Completed AI actions report credits used and the remaining server balance. An estimated request above 3,000 credits requires confirmation before it runs.
Top-ups
One-time top-ups add 40,000 credits for $5, 150,000 credits for $15, or 400,000 credits for $40. A purchased top-up belongs to the purchasing Discord user until that person applies it to a server through /usage. Once applied, it becomes part of that server’s balance.
Top-up credits do not expire and are spent after the current monthly allowance. Credits are fuel; a plan is entitlement. A top-up does not unlock paid-plan quality, depth, range, schedules, live channels, welcome summaries, or presets.
Optional provider keys
A member may save a personal OpenAI or Anthropic API key as an optional overage path after server credits run out. Provider charges and terms then apply directly to that member’s provider account. A saved key does not change the server’s plan or feature eligibility.
6. Billing, cancellation, and refunds
Summary Bot subscriptions and top-ups are Discord Premium App purchases. Discord, not Summary Bot, processes payment, taxes where applicable, billing records, subscription management, and eligible refunds.
Subscriptions renew according to the billing period shown by Discord until canceled. You can cancel at any time through Discord; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Use the same device type used to start the subscription, as described in Discord’s cancellation guide.
Under Discord’s current Refund Policy, one-time Premium App purchases are non-refundable except where required by law. Discord may consider Premium App subscription refund requests submitted within five days of the initial purchase or renewal on a case-by-case basis. Discord’s then-current policy controls.
Access after cancellation, refund, chargeback, or entitlement removal follows the subscription and entitlement status supplied by Discord. Refunded top-up credits may be removed from the applicable balance to the extent they have not already been used.
7. Acceptable use
You may not use Summary Bot to:
- access, infer, disclose, or attempt to bypass content or permissions you are not authorized to use;
- violate privacy, intellectual property, confidentiality, employment, education, or other applicable rights or laws;
- harass, threaten, exploit, impersonate, defraud, or facilitate illegal activity;
- send malicious instructions, code, secrets, credentials, or sensitive personal data to the Bot;
- probe, disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or evade safeguards, rate limits, credits, or plan restrictions;
- use automated means to abuse the service or resell access without written permission; or
- cause the Bot or its agent tools to take actions without appropriate authorization and review.
You are responsible for the commands, prompts, custom presets, raw prompts, provider keys, schedules, and confirmed agent actions submitted through your Discord account.
8. Content and AI output
You retain whatever rights you have in the content processed through the service. You grant Summary Bot a limited permission to process that content only as needed to operate the requested features, secure the service, and comply with law. Our handling of that content is described in the Privacy Policy.
AI-generated summaries and answers can be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or misleading. Source links and coverage details are provided to support verification, but they do not guarantee correctness. You must review important results and confirmed actions before relying on them.
Summary Bot is a conversation utility, not a substitute for professional, legal, medical, financial, safety, employment, or compliance advice. Do not rely on AI output as the sole basis for a consequential decision.
You must have the rights and permissions needed to submit custom prompts, instructions, and other content. Summary Bot may filter, limit, or refuse requests to protect people, providers, or the service.
9. Privacy
The Privacy Policy describes how Summary Bot processes temporary message content, stored identifiers and settings, AI provider requests, usage accounting, and deletion controls. It is incorporated into these Terms.
Server administrators must use public recaps, schedules, live summaries, and welcome summaries responsibly and provide any notices or obtain any consent required by their community rules or applicable law.
10. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Summary Bot useful and available, but the service is provided on a best-effort basis and may be interrupted by maintenance, Discord or provider outages, capacity, safety controls, or events outside our control. We do not promise a particular uptime or response time.
We may add, change, limit, or discontinue features to maintain security, provider compatibility, product quality, or legal compliance. If a material change affects a paid plan, we will provide notice where reasonably practical. We will not retroactively expire top-up credits except when required to reverse a refund, correct fraud or accounting error, enforce these Terms, or comply with law.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service at any time by removing the Bot and canceling any subscription through Discord. Removing the Bot does not itself cancel a Discord Premium App subscription.
We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security, legal risk, nonpayment, entitlement removal, provider restrictions, or a material breach of these Terms. Where appropriate, we may allow an opportunity to correct the issue. Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including payment obligations, content responsibility, disclaimers, and limitations—will survive.
12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Summary Bot and the Site are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, or accuracy of AI output. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Summary Bot’s operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, opportunities, or business interruption arising from the service, even if advised of the possibility.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, any aggregate liability arising from or relating to the service will be limited to the amount paid for Summary Bot by the affected user or server during the six months before the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation does not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot legally be limited.
13. General terms
If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms or your obligations without our consent; we may transfer them in connection with a reorganization, service transfer, or sale, subject to applicable law.
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the current published plan contract are the entire agreement concerning Summary Bot, except for rights and obligations imposed by Discord or applicable law.
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a revised effective date and, when reasonably practical, announced through the Bot or support server. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.
14. Contact
Questions about these Terms, billing guidance, or the service can be sent through the Summary Bot support server. Billing transactions and eligible refund requests must be handled through Discord support.
